Summary

I have been in Europe four years ago in the latter half of Jun. I planed to visit in Spain and Portugal this year, mainly the Andalusia region in Spain. At first, staying in Madrid walking around there and Toledo. Next moving to Cordoba, Granada, Malaga and Sevilla by bus. After that, across the border being Faro, Evora and Lisbon, Portugal. Then staying two nights in Lisbon, coming back via Madrid. I chose the China Airlines between Kansai and Madrid via Beijing as inexpensive price.

Itinerary

Two nights in Madrid, day trip to Toledo. Geting around by bus and staying two nights in Cordoba, one night in Granada, one night and day trip to Mijas in Malaga, one night in Sevilla, across the border, one night in Faro, one night in Evora and two nights in Lisbon. After that, returning to Madrid by a overnight bus. Geting on a plane around noon and coming back home via Beijing

COVID-19

During the travel in Thailand and Maldives in January and February. There were some questionnaires that asked to visit China or Wuhan and health at immigration. I have not experienced these in the last few years. I saw the sensor to detect body temperature everwhere in the airports. I guessed that almost people except for Japanes don't wear masks. More than half people wore masks, about 80% in airports and the airport link. After I came back to Japan, the coronavirus was spreading all over the world. Many countries restricted the immigration due to the Pandemic.

Cancelled

I was not able to expect the pandemic is coming to the end. Continuing last month: in May to Wester Australia, I gave up the travel. I was starting to cancel the reservations in April. At first, the International flights with the China Airlines. It was easy to get a refund by the China Airlines. I just checked the bus schedule, it was no need to cancel, since I didn't reserve the buses yet. I was able to cancel most hotel reservations, but some reservation were not refundable. I tried to nagotiate the refund with the reservation website as the pandemic. Non refundable hotel: two nights in Madrid, one night in Granada and two nights in Lisbon. After negotiation, the hotel in Madrid has changed to refund, the hotel in Lisbon issues a boucher valid for one year. After all, hotel in Granada refused the exception handling.

Refund

The China Airlines as internaional lines refunded me immediately. There were no advance payment for domestic trip by bus. The hotel in Granada was not refundable, and in Lisbon might give me a voucher valid for one year. The pandemic will not end in less than a year.
