| Summary | I have been to Koh Samui and Koh Tao several times. It was the first visit to the island of Koh Phangan which located betwee Tao and Samui. My favorite dive site "Sail Rock" is nearer than Tao and Samui. Once all 4 dives at Sail Rock on 2 days stay in Samui Island. In addition, if We stay in Koh Tao, trip to Sail Rock is not regurlarly, We can not go without a largen number of people. I find affordable rates to Bangkok with Vietnam Airlines. Transfer in Hanoi on forward, in Ho Chi Minh City on return. From Bangkok to Koh Phangan, I booked a combined ticket of Lomprayah bus and boat (one way THB1,300) |

| Typhoon | Typhoon 21 (Jebi) hited a week before departure. I thought there was no probrem with my travel, becase of 7days. But 1st terminal in Kansai Airport was flooded. There was an announcement of flight cancellation on the Vietnam Airlines website until the day before departure. But there was no comment on the day of my flight. I could not get through to both Osaka and Tokyo office. A few days to departure and weedend was around the corner. So I sent an email to the head office of Vietnum Airlines. I got a reply a few hour later that said my flight was canceled. And I could change departure airport to Chubu Aioport, or refund. Fare to Chubu Airport was not included. I preffered night bus whick arrive to Nagoya Staion in early morning to Shinkansen that I had to get up early morning. The night before I got no a night bus to Nagoya Staion. Then took a tain to Chubu Airport in early morning. |

| To Phangan Island |
Arrive in Bangkok in the evening and go to Phaya Thai by Airport Link. I had a big and heavy luggage, too far by foot, so took taxi to the hotel. If we take a taxi to Khaosan for about THB70, tool a tricycle for THB200. The bus depart at 6 o'clock the next morning, so I leave the hotel after 5 o'clock. I checked in at the reception desk of Lomprayah and got on a bus. Then to the pier of Chumphon without stopping It was the same as the previous time, there was no break and arrived past 13 o'clock. The departure time of the boat ws 13 o'clock, rush on boad. |

| Sail Rock occasionally not clear, but the sea is usually clear. We can see some big shool of jack, barracuda, batfish and yellowback fusilier and big cods. Sail Rock is great spot who loves shool of fish. In addition to it, tremendous luck in this time. We were able to enjoy a whale shark with six dives for three days. We can also see from the boat while surfave interval. I like good visiblity sea personally. I have not been able to encounter whale shark until then. The first day I could see it for the first time. On the second and third days, it had come close to me many times. They are my favorite shool of fish, but while they hided a whale shark, I wanted they to disappear. Add 6 dives for a total to 14 dives at Sail Rock. It became the site I dived the most, more than 10 deves at Tiputa in Rangiroa. |

| Koh Phangan | I had planned three days for diving. One more day in the island, I was
walking around there. At first I went to Chaloklum Bay all( I guess)boats were moored in the bay. I wondered why. Then I went to take some photos in Mae Haad Beach and Koh Ma. The wind from the northwest was very strong in there. I understoond why the diving boat remained in the bay, I did not notice that the wind was strong in the town. I bumped into a diving guied on the way back. Then I asked about today's diving, Just as I thought, canceled due to strong wind and high waves. |

| About one hour by a big boat from Koh Phangan to Sail Rock. It takes a little more than 1.5 hours by speed boat from Samui Island, 3 hours by a big boat. Leave at 8 am and return around 6 pm. The price is about half compared with Samui. |

| Koh Phangan is famous for full moon party. I avoid the crowded full moon period when making itineraries. Actually new moon and half moon were advertised in the island. These were on the south side of the island, The place where I stayed was a very peaceful place on the opposite north side. |

| Bangkok | I left Koh Phangan in the morning and arrived at Chumphon around noon, Return trip had enough time diffrent from on the way to Phangan. I could have lunch in Chumphon port, got on the bus, have a break on the way. Arrived after 20:00 in Bangkok, the hotel was close, so checked in on foot. Because the departure of plane of was next evening ,I went around a nearby temple in the morning. After check-out, left my luggage, went to pratunam by ship on Saen Saeb Canal and bought at Big-C. I have had a ride once more than 10 years ago, but at that time all Thai letters only. Got off with the surrounding scenery. Even though the ship arrived, We were getting on and off with only the hand held without fixing with the rope. It was quite beautiful and there were English signs and beautiful signboards in this time. |
